Gone but not forgotten

We have finally left Tinton Falls for the confines of Smithville.

The new homestead:

Forsale No Longer

Well the homestead is sold. Closing in less than 2 weeks. Now to get a Certificate of Continued Occupancy. Wow, what a hassle!

Tinton Falls used to be a friendly town to work with, but the folks down at the town hall look harried and unhappy. I have no idea what the new mayor and staff have done, or what has transpired since old Mayor Ann M left, but Tinton Falls is no longer a friendly place.

We will be moving at some point, hopefully when planned, hopefully our closing won't be delayed by unhappy bureaucracy.

And this is in a down housing market. Imagine if sales were up??? I can't, given what I've seen and dealt with.

And Free? Nothing is free anymore.

Used to be a song "Signs", but now should be replaced by "Forms":

Forms, forms everywhere a form
Blocking out progress, ruling the norm
Do this, don't do that, don't you have a form?!

Life Lessons

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of Cleveland, Ohio.

> "To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.

He Is Risen! He Is Risen, indeed!

The Gospel (good news) of the Apostle Matthew 28:6 "New American Standard Bible (©1995)
"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying."

There is no other leader who has risen from the dead.

Jesus' resurrection is proof that He is the One True God, Lord of All, and that He has fulfilled His promise of redeeming mankind from the just penalty of sin.

There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved: The "Name" is that of Yeshua Ha Meshiach, Jesus The Messiah, The Christ. In whatever language you read or translate it, it means the same: The Savior, The Anointed One, God's only son.

Don't get hung up by skeptics... today *is* the day in which your life can be changed. Once and for all.

Don't get hung up by hypocrites... The Lord knows there is room in heaven for one more ;)

Don't get hung up by science... Science is discovering that which God created and nothing discovered will ultimately do anything but reveal God to you in a new marvelous way. Psalm 19 proclaims: "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork....

But one fact remains and was testified over a period of many days, and with hundreds of witnesses and never contradicted by historical, legal, governmental record: Jesus rose from the dead.

He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!!

Bertha and the Surf

Well big Bertha is storming along out in the Atlantic Ocean and meanwhile along
the New Jersey coast, we saw some of the impressive swells come in, resulting in
what our forlorn surfers call as "surf's up".

Fishing along the New Jersey coast has been interesting since our inshore waters
are cooled down significantly by a Southerly wind, prevalent when there are extended
Bermuda highs impacting the weather on the Eastern seaboard, such as we have seen
this spring and early summer.

To note, on Thursday of this week, Atlantic City surf temperature was 57F. FIFTY SEVEN
in July. Very chilly, but as a result a significant number of striped bass, even some of the
normal migrants, have stayed in the cool water and feasting on the abundant schools of
bunker, seen up and down the coast.

Why does a Southerly wind cool down the surf?

It's due to the Coriolis Effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_effect

more on this another time.

God Bless,
Surf Rob

The Value of Diligence

Ecclesiastes 11

The Value of Diligence
Cast your bread upon the waters,
For you will find it after many days.
2 Give a serving to seven, and also to eight,
For you do not know what evil will be on the earth.
3 If the clouds are full of rain,
They empty themselves upon the earth;
And if a tree falls to the south or the north,
In the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie.
4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know what is the way of the wind,[a]
Orhow the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child,
So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed,
And in the evening do not withhold your hand;
For you do not know which will prosper,
Either this or that,
Or whether both alike will be good.
7 Truly the light is sweet,
And it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun;
8 But if a man lives many years
And rejoices in them all,
Yet let him remember the days of darkness,
For they will be many.
All that is coming is vanity.
Seek God in Early Life
9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth,
And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;
Walk in the ways of your heart,
And in the sight of your eyes;
But know that for all these
God will bring you into judgment.
10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart,
And put away evil from your flesh,
For childhood and youth are vanity.

Hockhockson is Hopping

The Hockhockson Brook, just upstream of the Grist Mill, used to have some fantastic flows in the spring as seen in the picture below. However, development in the watershed has impacted the ground water and springs to the point of only being a trickle of its former self.

Too bad... there used to be wild trout in this watershed

Fishing throughout the Garden State

here we see, a juvenile weakfish; a bluefish caught during a blistering Nor'easter; the biggest bluefish I've caught on a flyrod; and a hickory shad that probably would have broken the state record, had I weighed it in officially.

Getting the skunk

At Asbury Park, home of Bruce Springstein, eigth ave. jetty.

Went fishing from 7:30-10PM last night, NOTHING doing.

Ah yes, my friend caught a stargazer... the second one I've seen
in my life.

I'll post a picture of that later.

But for now, know that we were using fresh clam, fresh squid, salted clam,
gulp, Saltwater flies, SPRO bucktail and squid... all with no effective results!

ah well, that's fishing.

tuna fishing was successful... sort of

My son and I went out tuna fishing as written below. The good news is that 2 75lb + bluefin
tuna were boated.

The bad news is I got sick about 4 hours into the 10 hour trip! Oh well, mission number 1 was
to get my son into big fish and it was a success! He fished well and boated 2 real nice fish
that fed (after giving some to the captain, mate and another friend on board) 6 families!

So not a bad day at all.
